Most children and adolescents on the autism spectrum do not naturally learn to respond to social cues. Saturdays during the school year are reserved for Social Skills Group which focus on group activities and social skills for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Each meeting is themed and includes pre-planned projects fostering peer interaction and appropriate communication skills. Skills learned in Saturday Social Group are potentially an important part of the learning needs for an individual on the Autism Spectrum. He/she may develop the basic social rules and general social/behavioral expectations. These skills will have a large impact on a person’s life affecting his/her success to maintain friendships, participate in classrooms, and get jobs. We request a semester commitment from clients interested in attending Saturday sessions.
